41.2 Weeks

......and still counting....

So the due date came. And the due date passed.

Vahé and I were on a high last week with excitement but this week....the little bugger is starting to annoy us. I guess the ol' saying 'you snooze, you lose' doesn't apply here. I am not accustomed to missing 'deadlines' or 'messing up my schedule'. I guess I'll have to get used to this new way of life...

I am at the hospital every 3 days for non-stress tests and ultrasounds to ensure the baby is doing well and has enough amniotic fluid to keep going. Some good news: the little guy/girl is only about 7 1/2 pounds. Although I am told the labor intensity has nothing to do with the size of the baby, I am still quite relieved.

Thus far I have not dilated at all but I am 80% effaced. This is the result of almost three weeks of contractions and lower back pain. (They call this first phase of labor ‘early’ or ‘latent’ labor)

Should he/she not make an entrance sooner, we are scheduled for an induction on March 13th.

We'll keep you all posted!
